SOS8510 Multilevel Modelling Course, autumn 2005
NTNU Trondheim, November 14 17. 2005. Professor Kristen Ringdal A four-day introductory workshop on multilevel modelling will be held at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim on 14th-17th November 2005. The instructors will be Professor Kristen Ringdal of the Department of Sociology and Political Science, and Dr Dougal Hutchison, Chief Statistician of the National Foundation for Educational Research in England and Wales. The workshop will be aimed at Ph D students who have a knowledge of regression analysis, but not necessarily experience of multilevel modelling. It will be based on MlwiN v.2.0. It will give a short theoretical introduction to MLM, and describe a range of applications of MlwinN, following worked examples. The topics are not finalised at present, but are likely to include basic principles, setting up two- and higher-level models, discrete data, random effects and slopes, cross-classified and multiple membership models. A detailed schedule for the course will be available in August. There will also be an opportunity for participants to consider the application of MLM to their own data. Participants will be able to get 10 ECTS credit for the course by participating in the course and producing a written paper by the end of January 2006. New deadline for applications: October 10. 2005.
