Statistics have evolved in close interaction with the emergence of the modern state. How are they continuing to evolve now when:

  • Individualism and market liberalism are dominant ideologies?

  • Computer power is growing exponentially?

  • we are protective of our personal data?

This project examines current statistical practices in several areas, each with particular tensions between individual and aggregate perspectives.
