Alain Desrosičres

Alain Desrosičres is a statistician, sociologist and historian well-known for his work in the history of statistics. Recently retired from the INSEE (the French National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies), he is now a member of the Centre Alexandre Koyré de Recherche en Histoire des Sciences et des Techniques (EHESS, Paris). He is the author of The Politics of Large Numbers: A History of Statistical Reasoning (Harvard University Press, 1998).
